Why do I need to sign a contract?
Contracts are a great way to specifically lay out all expectations and responsibilities that each party will have when working together. It works to eliminate any guesswork that may arise and protects each party should a dispute occur.
Why do I need to sign a Model or Property Release?
These types of releases are required in order for you to give your permission for your likeness or your property (if there is a reasonable expectation of privacy) to be photographed and used for commercial purposes.
How does a Commercial Use License differ from a Print Release and how does it relate to Copyright of the photos?
A Commercial Use License is a license provided by the Photographer to Commercial (Business based) clients granting them specified permissions on how they can use the Photographer's photos in order for them to be able to use the images with the intent of selling their product, service, or idea.
A Print Release is used for Non-Commercial (non- business based) clients granting them permission to use the Photographer's photos for personal use only without the intention of monetary gain or commercial use.
In both instances, Copyright of the photos is retained by the Photographer.
